Major Maikano Adamu (rtd) has been appointed as the Acting Commandant of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG).
This was contained in a statement made available to New Telegraph on Thursday by the state government, saying his appointment is with immediate effect.
New Telegraph reports that Governor Dauda Lawal, appointed Major Adamu following the suspension of Col. Rabiu Garba Yandoto (rtd), the former CPG Commandant by the state government, Adamu’s appointment was announced.
Yandoto’s remarks criticizing the state government for allegedly providing inadequate funding for the outfit prompted his suspension.

In a statement released on Thursday by the State Commissioner for Information, Munnir Haidara, it was clarified that Adamu’s appointment as the acting commandant was a response to recent developments.
Major Maikano Adamu previously served as the Deputy Commandant of the CPG before assuming his new role.
