Zamfara: Bandits kill 7 policemen, set operational vehicle ablaze

Bandits have killed seven policemen in an ambush along Tofa-Magami road in Gusau Local Government of Zamfara State. Sources from the state Police Command revealed that one of the policemen was burnt beyond recognition, adding that his body was packed in a sack. Four of them were said to be inspectors.

They were identified as Markus Donal, Solomon Amfemi, lshaya Stephen and Gambo Nura. Another was Sergeant Abdul Garba and two others. A source living in the area of the incident revealed that the incident occurred about 6pm on Monday when the police operatives were in the area on a patrol. The bandits, according to the source, set the police operational vehicle ablaze after killing them. The source said that the bandits engaged the police operatives in a gun battle. He disclosed that the corpses of the officers have been evacuated to Gusau.

The spokesperson of the Yarima Bakura Specialist Hospital Gusau, Awwal Ruwan- doruwa confirmed seven bodies of the slain police operatives were brought to the hospital. Efforts to reach the spokesperson of Zamfara Police Command, SP Mohammed Shehu prove abortive. He didn’t pick calls or respond to texts on his mobile phone.
