Zamfara Assembly sacks deputy gov, Matawalle appoints Nasiha

Zamfara State Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle yesterday swore in Senator Hassan Mohammed Nasiha as the new Deputy Governor. This came after Mahdi Aliyu was sacked by the House of Assembly yesterday, after receiving the report by the panel of investigation into the allegations levelled against him. Aliyu fell out with his boss after he failed to move with him from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All ProgressivesCongress(APC). Until his appointment, Hassan was the representative of Zamfara Central in the Senate.

Speaking at the ceremony at Government House, Gusau, Matawalle, said: “My administration could not for whatever reason move to discourage any move by the House of Assembly from unmasking any misconduct not only for thepositionof deputy governor but for all political positions, there is no political office holder is expected to engage in any action related to financial misappropriation. “I have to commend the House of Assembly for their fight against any form of financial misconduct andtheir fair for the request served the formerdeputygovernorseeking him to appear before the investigative panel for selfdefence which he declined to.” After receiving the report of the panel of investigation, the Chief Judge, JusticeKulu Aliyu, subsequently forwarded to the House of Assembly for action.
