The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has expressed sadness over the repeated terrorist attacks in Mafia Village, Yobe State.
The former Governor of Anambra State described the attacks, which resulted in the death of 87 residents last week, as a stark reminder of the gravity of Nigeria’s security situation.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Obi emphasized that the current security architecture has failed and urged the Federal Government to take bold steps to address the challenge.

He reiterated his call for a paradigm shift in approach and declared war on insecurity, warning that it may consume the nation if left unchecked.
He said: “Again, I am saddened by the devastating news of the horrific killing of several innocent people in Mafia Village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.
“This heinous act of violence is a stark reminder of the gravity of our security situation and the urgent need for a paradigm shift in our approach to the challenge.
“The relentless killings, maiming, and displacement of innocent Nigerians are a clear indication that our current security architecture is failing.
“We must acknowledge this reality and take bold steps, as I have always maintained, by declaring war on insecurity before it consumes us completely.”
