Workers Dragged To Court Over Alleged Unlawful Diversion Of Funds, Price Inflation

For allegedly diverting the sum of N130.1 million, three workers of Montego Upstream Services Limited, namely Philemon Obileku, Onyia Jude and Sunday Okelezo, have been dragged before Justice Deinde Dipeolu of a Federal High Court in Lagos.

They were charged before the court by the police on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and unlawful diversion of funds/price inflation.

Following their arraignment, police prosecutor, Daniel Apochi, informed the court that the defendants and others now at large, between 2022 and 2023, while working as staff of Montego Upstream Services, conspired among themselves and unlawfully converted the said sum.

The lawyer further informed the judge that the defendants committed the alleged crimes by taking bribes for the issuance of orders and contract price inflation.

The alleged offences were said to have contravened Sections 18 (a) and 18 (1) (2) (b) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (As Amended 2012).
