A pregnant woman identified as Rahemat Lateef, who was allegedly abducted on her way to deliver at the State General Hospital in Ijaiye, Abeokuta, Ogun State has been found.
Rahemat who said she was never abducted revealed that she fled to Kwara State to avoid her husband’s wrath following a miscarriage.
New Telegraph reported that Rahemat was frustrated by frequent miscarriages and had made up the kidnapping scenario.
Her husband, Ogunbunmi Lateef, reported getting a WhatsApp message informing him of his wife’s kidnapping by unknown individuals.
On Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Omolola Odutola, gave an update on the matter, stating that Rahemat had been seen in Kwara State with her father.

She claimed that the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit had been tracking her until she reappeared.
Odutola said, “Rahemat Lateef, who was reported abducted by her husband, was never kidnapped. Instead, she planned her journey to Kwara State to escape her husband’s wrath, following repeated miscarriages.
“She fabricated the story herself, travelled to Kwara State, and was far from being kidnapped. After experiencing a miscarriage and becoming frustrated due to its repeated occurrence, she feared her husband’s reaction and orchestrated the narrative. The Anti-Kidnapping Team had begun tracking her until she reappeared.
“She is now under medical attention and is safe,” she added.
