Woman Charged For Assaulting Police Officer In Ibadan

A woman named Yinka Afolabi, 30, was hauled before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State on charges of assaulting police personnel.

Afolabi, who was charged with conspiracy, assault, and behaviour likely to create a breach of peace, plead not guilty to the accusation.

The prosecutor, Insp Oladejo Balogun, informed the court that the defendant committed the crime at 10.30 p.m. on May 27 in the Elebu area of Ibadan.

According to Balogun, Afolabi organized individuals to assault police officers stationed nearby.

The prosecutor further noted that the defendant resisted being arrested by police officers who were carrying out their legal duties.

He claimed that the offenses violated Sections 516 and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, granted the defendant bail in the amount of N100,000 with two sureties in the same amount.

She adjourned the case until June 6 for a hearing.
