Wike Pledges Support For Abuja’s Turkish Tax-Free Industrial Park

The Federal Capital Territory ( FCT ) Minister, Nyesom Wike on Wednesday pledged to galvanize the Presidency’s support for the ongoing tax-free industrial park being championed by a Turkish company, Zerberced in Abuja.

The Minister who paid a scheduled visit to the site of the industrial park, located in Idu District Industrial Zone, noted that the project was a “ mind boggling” foreign investment that must be encouraged.

Wike noted that the project said to have about 280 workshops for the promotion of Small, and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and capable of creating 40,000 employment, is an investment that no government will abandon.

New Telegraph gathered that the land measuring about 250 hectares will boost economic development in Abuja and also encourage export of finished goods from Nigeria.

He disclosed that part of FCT Administration’s contribution was the construction of roads and other infrastructures within the Industrial zone.

According to him, the road leading to the Industrial Zone, hitherto planned to be single lane, would be dualised for a seamless traffic flow, when the place becomes fully operational.

Wike said, “ there is no government that will not support this type of project. We will fast track the necessary approval required from the Federal Ministry of Finance for this project to be completed.

“ FCTA gave this land 12 years ago, and it is a tax free zone. We are already constructing the road leading to the place”.

Earlier in his remarks, the Managing Director, Zeberced Nigeria, Adil Aydin Kurt, said that with the present Administration’s support, the industrial park can be completed and made operational within 8 months.

He disclosed that the company had started manufacturing pipes and other plastic products, which are already gaining acceptance at the global market.
