The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning against any attempts to take control of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) structure in Rivers State.
Wike who finally broken his silence over the political crisis in Rivers State vowed to fiercely resist any interference from other PDP governors, threatening to cause political unrest in their respective states if they meddle in the affairs of the party in Rivers.
The FCT Minister outbrust is coming amid a recent meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum in Taraba State on August 23, where the governors expressed their support for Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara amid the ongoing internal crisis within the party.
In a communiqué read by the Forum,,m’s Chairman, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, the governors called for a review of the party congress outcome in Rivers State to restore Fubara’s leadership role.

Speaking at the PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt during the party’s state congress on Saturday, Wike made it clear that he would not allow anyone to wrestle control of the PDP from him and his loyalists in the state.
Addressing the governors directly, Wike stated, “Let me assure all of you, not while we live will anybody take away the structure of the PDP from us.
“But let me tell people, I hear some governors who say they will take over the structure and give it back to somebody. I pity those governors because I will put fire in their states.”
Wike further warned that any governor who attempts to interfere in Rivers State’s political affairs would face severe consequences.
He alluded to a recent financial windfall some governors received, which he believes has emboldened them to challenge his influence.
“Because I heard they got some money from a signature bonus, and so their heads are getting big that they will put a hand in my own state.
“Prepare because I have the capacity to do the same thing in your state,” Wike threatened.
He specifically cautioned governors from Bauchi and other states, saying, “Whether you are from Bauchi, I don’t give a damn; whichever state you are from, as far as I know that you are trying to put yourself in Rivers State, your hand will get burnt, and you will never sleep in your state.”
The PDP in Rivers State has been embroiled in a crisis following the fallout between Wike and his successor, Governor Fubara, who was notably absent from the congress.
The event was attended by several serving and former lawmakers at both federal and state levels, former council chairmen, and other party faithful who remain loyal to Wike.
