In fulfilment of their determination to reinforce #Endbadgovernance protest, some aggrieved youths on Tuesday hit Elizabeth Road in Ibadan and marched to Mokola Roundabout with placards, while singing anti-government songs.
Though some policemen were seen making calls for reinforcement, the youths were peaceful in their conduct as they called on the security agents to keep vigilance.
When speaking, the leader of the protest, who refused to mention his name, said the protest was yet to start.
According to him, “We’re here to exercise our constitutional rights. We have to free ourselves from these hoodlums who call themselves leaders. We cannot continue like this. Enough is enough. This is an Endbadgovernance protest. We’re just converging. The protest has not started.
“We are not afraid or intimidated by the presence of security personnel. We’re performing our duty as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution as amended. It is the duty of the security to protect us so that there will not be any casualties. It is our fundamental human right to engage in peaceful protest”, he said.
In their placards, some of them wrote inscriptions deploring the high cost of foodstuff, the High cost of petroleum, harrowing economic conditions, as well as, the high inflation rate which have all been subjecting the masses to poverty. They urged President Bola Tinubu to change his policies of further enriching the rich while making the poor masses get poorer and live a miserable life.
