WAFU U-17: Eaglets Eye AFCON Slot, Face Cote D’ivoire In Semis

The Golden Eaglets will face Côte d’Ivoire in the semifinal of the WAFU B U17 AFCON qualifiers in Ghana tomorrow, following a commanding 3-0 victory over Togo that secured their top spot in Group B. Nigeria amassed seven points from three matches, finishing ahead of Burkina Faso, who also tallied seven points but had a lower goal difference after their narrow 1-0 win over Niger in the final group game.

As runnersup, Burkina Faso will play against Ghana in the other semifinal on Saturday. In the match against Togo, Abdulmuiz Adeleke shone brightly with a brace, while Rapha Adams netted his second goal of the tournament.

The kick-off of the rescheduled game at the Rugby pitch of the University of Ghana was delayed by an hour due to organisational issues. Adeleke opened the scoring for Nigeria just nine minutes in, sprinting through on goal from the left flank and unleashing a left-footed strike past the advancing goalkeeper.
