In a swift response to a lawsuit issued by Femi Falana’s chambers, social media influencer and activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has denied defaming the senior advocate in relation to the ongoing Bobrisky bribery scandal.
The controversy erupted after VDM leaked an audio recording in which Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, alleged that he bribed EFCC officials with ₦15 million to drop money laundering charges.
Bobrisky further claimed that Falana and his son, Falz, were involved in securing a pardon for him.

VDM’s legal team, led by Deji Adeyanju, responded to the lawsuit stating that their client never intended to defame Falana but only shared the leaked communication to bring it to the attention of relevant agencies for a thorough investigation.
The letter emphasized VDM’s high regard for Falana’s commitment to human rights and the rule of law.
It argued that the appropriate course of action is for the allegations in the audio recording to be fully investigated rather than pursuing a defamation case.
Falana’s legal team had previously demanded a retraction and apology from VDM for associating him with the bribery claims.
However, VDM’s stance remains that the leaked communication merits an interagency investigation.
This latest development adds a new layer to the ongoing saga, which has gripped public attention following Bobrisky’s alleged dealings with EFCC officials and claims of high-level interference.
