Union Gives MAPOLY 7-day Ultimatum Over Salary Increment, Others

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State chapter, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the institution’s management to fully implement the 35 and 25 per cent salary increment for workers of the institution as approved by the government.

The institution’s ASUP Chairman, Mr Adegunle Tomisi, gave the ultimatum in a communiqué issued on April 29 in Abeokuta. He said failure to do the needful after the expiration of the notice, will compel the union to commence industrial action immediately.

The communiqué was issued at the end of a congress meeting of the association which was held on the polytechnic campus.

He said union also deliberated on other important issues concerning members of the association, and reviewed the responses of the management to the legitimate demands of the union, noting that the congress found the management’s response unsatisfactory given their non-committal to and partial fulfilment of their demands given the refusal of the management to treat career progression of staff with all the seriousness it deserves.
