The Minister of Education Tahir Mamman yesterday stressed the need for tertiary institutions to be treated to a discount on their electricity bills.
According to him, he is working with the Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu to ensure that tertiary institutions’electricity bills are discounted.
The comments followed Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC)’s disconnection from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) over an alleged N300 million despite paying an outstanding debt.
Mamman said at the inauguration of the TETFund Board of Trustees and tertiary institutions’ governing councils in Abuja:
“The electricity company there disconnected that university from power because they have not paid their bills. Do you know what that bill is?
