The pace and level of work done at the ongoing construction of Umuahia Mega Bus Terminal has impressed Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti.
Governor Otti who visited the project site expressed satisfaction at the pace of work on the project marked among the most important in the ongoing remodeling of Umuahia into a befitting capital city.
The Governor, however, pointed out that the roads need to be wider than they are with the ongoing junction improvement and the traffic lights being placed in Umuahia.
He said that he had already asked the contractor to temporarily stop around the popular Cooperative Roundabout in Umuahia so that the government can take a look at the project again.
Otti said that in the ongoing Umuahia Transport Terminal, he intends to replicate something similar to what was done in Oshodi, Lagos State.
“Exactly what they did in Oshodi is what we want to replicate here. The Railway, the Buses, everything will terminate here.
“Shopping Centers, Hotels, just where people can come, meet, and have fun, children’s playground, everything will be here”.
Governor Otti explained that the project will help organize Umuahia very well and bring to an end the multiplicity of parks all over the place.
He also said that a lot of businesses will move in there because there is provision for hotels, shopping plazas, and playground, etc.
Otti further explained that the project may not yield money immediately but in the long run, it will generate a lot of money, stressing that the most important thing is for Umuahia to look like a capital city.
