UI hosts 2024 SME fair to enhance global competitiveness

 

The University of Ibadan has announced its plan to host its 2024 Small and Medium Enterprises Fair.

The institution in the statement noted that the fair is part of its efforts towards promoting innovation and enhancing the global competitiveness of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The event theme, “Moving the SME Global Community Forward through Technology, Innovation, and Creativity,” according to the institution will gather entrepreneurs, students, and industry leaders from across the country.

The fair which has been slated to hold between 8th and 9th November will take place at the International Conference Centre, located on the University’s campus.

The convener, Professor Ruth Ochanya Adio-Moses, said that the objective of the fair is to create a platform for participants to share ideas, explore technological advancements, and expand their business networks.

She added that the fair will feature a keynote address, speeches, panel discussions, and workshops, as well as product exhibitions from producers, faculty members and students.

She added that there will be inter-university competitions, pitch events, and business matchmaking sessions designed to help emerging innovators and startups gain exposure and secure investment.

She maintained that notable speakers from various sectors will present strategies for SMEs to succeed in an increasingly competitive global market.

“Attendees will also have access to training sessions focused on creativity and the adoption of new technologies for business growth.

“The event is Powered by the Office of the DVC Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnership, sponsored by Providence Bank and CEO Africa serving as the official media partner.

“The University of Ibadan SME Fair is expected to be a critical event for the business community, offering numerous grants and business opportunities.
We look forward to seeing exhibitors and participants from all over the global community.”
