Kylian Mbappe is a potential surprise inclusion for Real Madrid and could face his younger brother, Ethan, when the Champions League holders take on Lille at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on today. The France international has made a quicker-than-expected recovery from a biceps injury he sustained in his side’s 3-2 win over Alaves last weekend.
Real Madrid will not want to take any risks, but he could make all the difference as they attempt to follow up their 3-1 win over Stuttgart in the opening game of the League stage. The younger Mbappe got a few minutes off the bench at the weekend and will be hoping to be involved at some point, particularly as playmaker Angel Gomes is suspended for this one.
Lille won all three Ligue 1 matches that Gomes missed through suspension or injury last season, scoring six goals across those fixtures. They can still raise their game to a level that makes it very difficult for the visitors. Liverpool have already seen off one Serie A team in this season’s Champions League having beaten AC Milan 3-1 at the San Siro and they should be able to beat Bologna with a minimum of fuss on Wednesday.
