Udeze grateful to Musa after N2m gift to Obikwelu

Atlanta 1996 Olympics gold medalist, Kingsley Obikwelu, and former Super Eagles defender, Ifeanyi Udeze, have shown their appreciation to Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, for coming to the aide of Obikwelu, who was reported to be struggling to feed himself and family.

According to a post on a journalist Facebook page, Emmanuel Okwuluora, he reports meeting Obikwelu at a park loading buses, something not befitting someone who had served the country in the past. “At Abakpa Motor Park, I saw former Super Eagles Defender Kingsley Obiekwu (Shagari Udoji) loading buses and driving Sienna to Nsukka,” Okwuluora wrote.

“I hugged and greeted him then cried like a man. Life can be cruel Yes. He never made it to the highest level, Yes but where are his teammates? “I will tell Kanu Nwankwo about this. They won Olympics gold together in Atlanta. Obikwelu last made headline when his younger brother died in the field of play. A NATIONAL HERO, AN IDOL TO MILLIONS, AN OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALLIST. We can help lift him again if he is willing. That environment is not for him.” Reacting to the post, former West Bromwich Albion defender, Udeze, took the story to his programme on a popular Radio station, with current captain of the Eagles, quickly donating N2m to the player. He however thanked the former Leicester City player for coming to the aid of Obikwelu and also seek the support of others to make the player stand on his feet.
