Two suspected thieves, Abdulateef Olasunkanmi and Sunday Morice, on Wednesday, charged before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly stealing a cell phone valued at N139,000.
Olasunkanmi, 18, and Morice, 28, whose addresses were not provided, are accused of stealing, assault, and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, informed the court that the defendants and others who are still at large committed the crimes at around 11.05 a.m. on June 12 at Arobilaye, Ota.
Adaraloye claimed that Olasunkanmi and Morice colluded to assault the complainant, Zinsu Joseph, with fists.
He further said that during the assault, the defendants snatched the complainant’s phone worth N139,000.

The prosecutor stated that the offence violated Sections 390(9), 451, and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each, with two sureties in the same amount.
Fadairo stated that the sureties must live within the court’s jurisdiction, be gainfully employed, and provide proof of tax payment to the state government.
He however adjourned the case until June 20, for further mention.
