Two Poly Students Die In Akure Road Accident

Two students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile Oluji, tragically lost their lives in a fatal road accident on the Akure-Ondo road near the Olokuta community, Ondo State on Wednesday.

The students, identified as Chukwu Athanasius and Oladokun Oyindamola, were riding a bicycle when they were hit by a Toyota vehicle.

Following the tragic incident, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Emergency Response, Prince Oriade Wellington Adebawo, arrived at the scene within five minutes of the incident alongside other road users, but sadly, it was too late to save the students.

Expressing his deep condolences to the victims’ families, Adebawo condemned the reckless driving responsible for the tragedy and urged drivers to observe speed limits and exercise caution to prevent such fatal accidents.

In a statement addressing the accident, Adebawo emphasized the importance of road safety, noting the need for vigilance and adherence to safety measures to avoid further loss of lives on the roads.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC) Ondo State Axis, expressed profound grief over the devastating incident.

In a statement signed by its leaders, Comr. Oluwarotimi Tobiloba Joshua (Chairman), Comr. Oluwanishola Ajibola (Secretary General), and Comr. Kehinde Blessing (Public Relations Officer), NANS extended their heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and classmates of the deceased.

“This is a devastating blow to the student community of Ondo State. The untimely loss of these students serves as a grim reminder of the fragility of life.

“Chukwu Athanasius and Oladokun Oyindamola were more than just students; they were individuals with dreams and potential cut short far too soon,” the statement read.
