Two killed in Ibadan gang war

Two youths were killed yesterday during a gang war between the youth of Inalende, Abebi and Oopo area of Ibadan, Oyo State. This occurred barely 24 hours after two people were killed on Iwo Road following attacks on phone sellers by some transport union workers. According to New Telegraph investigations, the clash started since Wednesday when the youth from Inalende killed two people at Oopo with the support of the youth from Abebi. Oopo, Abebi and Inalende are close areas in the heart of Ibadan, the state capital.

A reliable source, who gave the names of yesterday’s victims as Transformer and Ishaja, said the crisis was the usual clash between the youth in the area. The source said the youth were still vowing to avenge the killing of their members despite the heavy presence of security agents in the area.

“The two boys are already down as I speak with you. Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) are here to maintain peace but those guys are still threatening to retaliate. I wish the police could still bring in more reinforcements to our area to ensure more lives are not lost.” A photojournalist living in the area said two people were killed. He said: “We are yet to know those behind the attack. Police are yet to get here. I have called the PPRO but he denied the killing of the two people. But you know it is my area and I heard from a reliable source that Ishaja and Transformer have been killed.” The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Adewale Osifeso, did not pick his calls to confirm the killing.
