A notorious cross-borders bandit named Kachalla Mai Daji, alongside other terrorists has been apprehended by the military operatives of Niger Republic.
The kingpin who was for many years being terrorising Nigeria and Niger Republic borders communities was according to reliable source captured alive while fleeing from Illela border areas in Sokoto State to Niger Republic recently.
The bandits were arrested along the borders community between Nigeria and Niger Republic towns on transits with over 200 rustled cattles and other husbandry animals.
Contacted for his comment, the Sole Administrator, Illela Local Government Area, Hon. Sahabi Wakili who confirmed that he received informations of Kachalla’s arrest by military operatives of the neighbouring Niger Republic.
When asked whether the Niger Republic authority contacted his council on the arrest and the number of the bandits, rustled cattles now in the Niger custody, or recovered along with the notorious gangs.
“Our concerned is about the captured of the terrorist gang leader ,they got him along our border communities crossed Nigeria and right inside their territories”,
Other community sources have it that the captured bandit had coordinated series of attacks especially in eastern parts of illela and other communities .
Similarly,the bandits have perpetrated banditry attacks ,kidnap for money ransom,rustling and other crimes in Sokoto,Zamfara and Katsina States for the past 10 years .
The source also stated that the terrorist leader had also masterminded and conducted criminal activities in communities that includes , Illela and other neibouring Gada local government areas such as Tozai, Sabon Garin Darna, Darna Tsolawo, Tudun Gudali, Basanta, Ɗan Kadu, Takalmawa, Gidan Hamma, Ambarura, Gidan Bulutu among others.
Community leaders in the area who spoke on the bases of ananomity noted that the area now enjoying relative peace since the captured of bandits ring leader in neighbouring Niger.
While commended the tireless efforts of the local government Sole administrator toward ensuring and supporting the fight against banditry and other forms of crimes in the illela border town ,the headquarters of illela local government area of the state.
They urged for more proactive measures by the Federal and state government to rid the community from insecurity challenges.
