Trader Convicted For Stealing N32,000 Worth Of Clothes In Jos

Aliyu Ibrahim, a 19-year-old trader was sentenced to one month in prison for stealing clothes worth N32,000.

The Jos Magistrates’ Court, Plateau State handed down the judgment on Friday, June 7, noting that the offence is punishable by the Plateau Penal Code Law.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Ijuptil Thawal, informed the court that the crime was reported to the Railway Police Station in Jos on May 4 by one Garba Mohammed.

The prosecutor stated that the defendant trespassed into the railway quarter and stole seven pieces of clothing before being apprehended.

However, the magistrate offered the convict the alternative of paying a fine of N10,000.
