The wife of the President, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu has donated N50m to 1,000 women petty traders in Nasarawa State under the Renewed Hope Initiatives Economic Empowerment Programme Recapitalization Grants.
Speaking at the event held at Government House in Lafia, on Thursday, Remi Tinubu said President Bola Tinubu led federal government was committed to the welfare of Nigerian women hence the initiation of the economic empowerment programme.
Represented by the wife of the Nasarawa Governor, Hajiya Salifat Abdulahi Sule, the wife of the president urged the beneficiaries to invest the money into their businesses to maximise profit.
In her speech, Hajiya Abdullahi Sule represented by wife of the Nasarawa state deputy governor, Mrs Tosin Akabe lauded Sen.Remi Tinubu for empowering the women.
She further commended the first lady for creating an enabling environment for Nigerian women and other vulnerable groups in the country to strives at the challenging times.
Governor Sule”s wife said Nigerian women are aware of the commitment of the president Tinubu’s administration in addressing the current challenges Nigerians are facing through decisions and policies for sustainable economy recovery to set the nation on the path of sustainable growth and development.
She lauded Sen Tinubu for always carrying Nasarawa state women and other groups along in her programmes, assuring that women in the state would continue to support her and her husband to succeed.
Also speaking, commissioner of Women Affairs and Scial Development, Hajiya Aisha Rufia Ibrai lauded wife of the president, Sen Oluremi Tinubu for empowering the women.
She said just a couple of months ago, Mrs Tinubu flagged off a food Outreach programme for the vulnerable groups and persons with disabilities as part of the Renewed Hope Initiative programme of the present administration.
She enjoined the beneficiaries to use the money for the purpose.meant for to grow their businesses for the their good and for their families.
