Tinubu To Attend President Derby’s Inauguration Today

President Bola Tinubu will today depart Abuja for N’Djamena, the Republic of Chad, to attend the inauguration of President Mahamat Déby. The inauguration of President Déby followed his declaration as the winner of the country’s presidential election earlier this month and subsequent affirmation by the Constitutional Court of Chad.

According to a statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the President would be accompanied on the trip by senior government officials and would return after the ceremony. Meanwhile, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, yesterday said the celebration of President Bola Tinubu’s first anniversary in office would be on a low-key.

He said the decision was a reflection of the current circumstances in the country. Idris made this announcement during a World Press conference held to mark the occasion. Flanked by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu, Idris.
