President Bola Tinubu has expressed his deep condolences to the Tijjaniyya Movement in Nigeria following the tragic death of 40 of its members in a fatal road accident on Sunday.
New Telegraph had earlier reported that the victims were on their way to a Maulud Nabiy celebratory event when their bus collided with a truck in Lere town, Kaduna State.
The group, who had travelled from Kwandari in Plateau State, were headed to Saminaka, Kaduna State, to participate in the religious event when the unfortunate incident occurred.

In addition to the 40 lives lost, scores of other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries.
In a press statement released on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and those injured.
He also offered his prayers for the repose of the souls of the departed, while comforting the affected communities in Plateau and Kaduna states.
The President further directed the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to intensify highway monitoring efforts to help curb the increasing number of road accidents across the nation.
The Tijjaniyya Movement is one of Nigeria’s prominent Islamic sects, and the accident has cast a shadow over their celebrations.
