“Since independence, our nation has survived many crises and upheavals,” he said, pointing out how the country has managed to remain united despite the challenges.
The president also enumerated his administration’s efforts in combating terrorism and banditry, declaring notable success in the fight against Boko Haram.
“Our administration is winning the war on terror and banditry,” Tinubu announced, revealing that over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders have been eliminated within the last year, with peace returning to many northern communities.
On economic reforms, Tinubu discussed the steps his government is taking to stabilize the economy, noting that Nigeria attracted over $30 billion in foreign direct investments in the past year.
He emphasized that fiscal misalignments were being corrected to prevent further economic decline, with efforts underway to reduce the cost of living, especially food prices.
“Fellow Nigerians, be assured that we are implementing many measures to reduce the cost of living here at home,” the president promised, commending governors who have embraced agricultural production programs to boost food security.
Tinubu also announced the convening of a National Youth Conference, a platform for young Nigerians to discuss key issues such as education, employment, and innovation.
“The 30-day Confab will unite young people nationwide to collaboratively develop solutions,” Tinubu said, underlining his administration’s focus on empowering the youth, who constitute more than 60% of the country’s population.
He concluded the broadcast with a message of hope and unity as Tinubu called on Nigerians to “cultivate a Nigeria that reflects the aspirations of all its citizens,” urging the public to work together in shaping the nation’s future.
He assured the nation that “better days are ahead,” asking for continued support in achieving a prosperous, inclusive, and peaceful Nigeria.
“Together, we will forge a path toward a brighter future with your support,” Tinubu said, ending the address with a heartfelt call for collective effort in building a greater Nigeria.
