“I can confirm to you that we recovered six bodies suspected to be of Fulanis killed by the vigilantes left unattended on the market day on Thursday in Gada town,” he stated.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident began when a leader of the Gidan Hashimu village vigilante group attempted to arrest and interrogate a prominent cattle rustler who was seen lurking in the market. The Fulani tribe fought the march across the market.

At the height of the crisis, terrorists shot and killed the vigilante leader, resulting in retaliation assaults by vigilante members.

More than six individuals had been killed before the cops arrived at the market.

The vigilantes in the area, enraged by the death of their leader, launched retribution attacks against Fulani settlements in the area where over 50 people were said to have been displaced by the rogue gang.
