The Lagos State Taskforce has issued a stern warning to residents, urging them to stop patronising motorcycle operators, commonly known as ‘Okada’ riders.
According to the agency, Okada operations pose significant risks to passengers and compromise the security of all residents.
The taskforce claims that Okada has become a preferred mode of escape for criminal elements, making them a security risk.
This warning follows a simultaneous operation against Okada operatives across various parts of Lagos, which lasted six hours. Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, emphasized the dangers of patronising Okada riders.
The operation, carried out under the directive of CP Adegoke Fayoade, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, targeted areas such as Badagry Expressway, Mile 2, and Second Rainbow Bus Stop.
The agency’s spokesman, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, reiterated the need for residents to desist from using Okada services, citing the inherent risks and security concerns.”
