Super Eagles star celebrates Flying Eagles, hosts captain Bameyi

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, was full of praises of the country’s U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, despite crashing out in the quarterfinal stage of the last FIFA U-20 World Cup hosted by Argentina. The team lost out in the quarter- final to an extra time goal scored by South Korea as they exited the championship. To get to the final eight, Nigeria had defeated host Argentina in the round of 16 with most people already tipping them for the title before their painful loss against the Asian.

The Napoli of Italy striker during the Super Eagles camping before their 3-2 defeat of Sierra Leone in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier hosted the Flying Eagles captain, Daniel Bameyi, to show his appreciation to the team. “I want to appreciate and celebrate the Flying Eagles for making Nigerians happy and proud at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina,” the former junior international said. “I invited you to Super Eagles to show my appreciation and celebrate you and the team.

I want to also seize this opportunity to let you know that the World saw your quality and leadership skill on and off the pitch.” Bameyi, ‘Big Engine’ as he was nicknamed by Flying Eagles coach, Ladan Bosso, following his ability to play as right back, left back, central defender and also as defensive mid- fielder was named by FIFA as best passer and best marker in three different matches played at the world cup in Argentina.
