The Sokoto State Executive Council has approved a supplementary budget of N119 billion for onward submission to the State House of Assembly for their considerations.
The Council which was presided over the State Governor,Ahmed Aliyu on Wednesday at the State Government Chamber also deliberated and approved the sun of N17.9 billion for the rehabilitation of some roads networks across the state.
Addressing newsmen in a joined briefing on the outcome of the council meeting, the Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Balarabe Kadadi said the proposed supplementary budget contained inflows from NG-CARES, L-Press, Agile, Palliative fund from LG, Ecological and Excess Crude Oil.
Kadadi said also the state approved the N11.8 billion for the reconstruction of 40.7 kilometers Illela-Gada road.
He stated another N3.2 billion was approved for the construction of Wurno-Huchi road.
On his part,the Commissioner of Information, Bello Sambo Danchadi who noted that, the projects were parts of the promises made by the Governor during his local government tours.
He further disclosed that, the sum of N2.9 billion was approved for the construction of Romo bridge,noted that all the roads were of economic important to thr state.
Also the Commissioner for religious affairs, Dr Jabir Maihula, revealed that, the sum of N156.7 million was approved for the rehabilitation of the oldest Islamiyya school in the state.
The School, he said had trained prominent indigene of the state, some of whom were now Professors and politicians.
He also said that, the sum of N33.4 million for the renovation of Isa Wasagu Juma’at Mosque.
The Commissioner for Land and Housing, Nasiru Dantsoho said the council approved the amendment
of Sokoto High Court Laws and Shariah Court of Appeal Law, approving 70 years as a retire age for Judges and Khadis.
It also approved the increment of high court judges to 41 and Khadis to 31.
The state also approved the sum of N361.2 million for the renovation of Shari’ah court of Appeal.
