Society Honours Audu Bako, Kwankwaso Over Kano Zoological Garden

The Wildlife Society of Nigeria (WISON) yesterday honoured the late Kano State Military Governor Audu Bako for establishing the Kano Zoological Garden.

The late Commissioner of Police, who governed the old Kano State from May 1967 and July 1975, established the Kano Zoological Garden on the then outskirts of Kano city in 1972.

The society also honoured former Governor Musa Kwankwaso for preserving and improving the garden during his tenure. Bako and Kwankwaso received their awards at the 6th Annual Conference of the Society\ organised in conjunction with the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Wudil.

Hajiya Zainab Audu Bako received the award on behalf of her late father, while the Kano State Commissioner for Higher Education Yusuf Kofar Mata received the honour on behalf of Kwankwaso. Governor Abba Yusuf stressed the importance of wildlife preservation.
