Skit Makers Need Self-Censorship To Avoid Running Against Law – FunyP

Edo State-born skit maker and content creator, Osemwota Efe, popular known as FunyP has cautioned his colleagues in the skit making sector of the entertainment industry to guard against off the mark pranks that may pitch them against the law of the land.

FunyP, who is a graduate of International Studies and Diplomacy, has, while others are seeking for non-available jobs, veered into the entertainment industry, deploying his skills in comedy, skits making, and innocent jokes.

Speaking with the New Telegraph in Benin-City, Edo State, FunyP whose other stage names include Pluto Presido and “Angel Wey Dey Bleach”, says it requires consistency and a streak of creativity to captivate audiences and attain success in content creation, stressing that such traits are essential to building a thriving brand.

“I started out with the intention of making people laugh and passing messages using ordinary day-to- day occurrences. Over time, I have built my craft and have started to structure my talent to attract different audiences.

“I have learnt from my colleagues in the industry and will continue to refine my craft so as to appeal better to the audience.”

Continuing, he said, “It is important to carve a niche for oneself by churning out top-notch productions at every outing so as to stand out.”

FunyP acknowledged that the HomeOfLafta brand has developed a unique touch to his contents over the years, establishing partnerships and collaborations with other notable skitmakers across Nigeria to deliver world- class contents to his followers across various platforms.

He urged practitioners and up coming skitmakers to adhere to acceptable standards, noting that “while everyone is at a liberty to choose what works best for them, it is also pertinent for skitmakers and those who produce Pranks to exercise caution. Some skits can get really dangerous and we have seen instances where contexts were not taken into account when people made skits.”

This, according to FunyP, is “why some of my colleagues have gotten into trouble. We need self – censorship and that is what is required to avoid running foul of the law of the land and to respect the sensibility of our followers.”
