Both ministers emphasized the historical ties between their countries and expressed optimism for the future of their partnership.

During a joint press conference, Lavrov commended Senegal’s neutral stance.

“We discussed the situation around Ukraine. Senegal adopts a balanced, principled, and objective position. We value this and will continue to keep our Senegalese friends, as well as other representatives of Africa and the broader Global South and East, informed about the unfolding situation and our assessments,” Lavrov remarked.

Diplomatic sources reveal that Yassine Fall affirmed Senegal’s ongoing investigation into the Ukrainian embassy’s activities in Dakar.

This inquiry follows provocative remarks by the Ukrainian ambassador, which suggested support for separatist movements in northern Mali.

Fall also highlighted, “Our relations are based on friendship and brotherly ties, as evidenced by President Bassir Diomaye Faye’s congratulatory messages to President Vladimir Putin.”

Lavrov reaffirmed the deep-rooted friendship between Russia and Senegal, expressing optimism that Yassine Fall’s extensive diplomatic experience will further enhance cooperation between the two countries.
