Sen. Plang Urges Women To Always Back Husbands’ Political Ambitions

The Senator representing Plateau Central in the National Assembly, Sen. Diket Plang, has admonished Nigerian women to always support their husbands’ aspirations to enable them to succeed in their endeavours.

According to him, when a husband finds support from his wife, when they stand together in his aspirations, it gives him strength, vigour and makes him stronger, which helps him to accept results, whether success or failure.

“When the vision is successful, you both rejoice. When it is not, you console each other. Women play a key role in the success of their husbands, he said.

Senate Plang stated this in Jos at the weekend while speaking to Journalists for the first time since the demise and burial of his wife, late Prof. Janet Mangvwat Plang..

Plang, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Labour, Employment, and Productivity, when asked to state those values his wife upheld when she was alive and wants other women to emulate, said, “God is the chief architect of any marriage and the model of his design has no crack.

“For me, it is very important to know whom to marry and whom you can last with, even into old age. I thank God that I was truly married.

“I want to encourage wives and husbands to have a joint dream, a shared dream. If not for the fact that my wife believed in me, I might not have been able to withstand the challenges I went through.

The Senator also maintained that his job is full of risks, adding that when you have someone who appreciates you and stands with you, even when you have lost everything, you gain strength.

“The support of a wife for her husband’s dreams and aspirations is a moral booster. It is a grace in a man’s life. I encourage women to support the meaningful dreams and visions of their husbands. And even when the husband did not succeed, because they were together in it, they would be able to bear the shock of not succeeding, Plang said

He further argued that the family journey is a combined one, and it is always more successful when you are together in it, stressing that husbands should not hide their dreams from their wives, share their dreams with them and ask them to bless and join you in it.

“You can imagine, I was an elected councillor when I got married to my wife, and she was a graduate assistant. Immediately, she became the wife of a councillor, participating in my campaign meeting with women in my ward.

According to him, she was there for me when I became Council chairman, PA to a governor, house of assembly member, and commissioner, adding that she was also the wife of a senator, holding meetings with other women as she always actively participated in political events.

“If I had a wife who closed doors or was unwilling to take risks, her attitude could have made people lose confidence in me. But because she was accommodating and supported me, I got support. Her presence, her belief in me, gave me the strength to do what I had to do.

“Even when you fail, if your wife is with you, you are encouraged. When you win, she rejoices with you. Husbands, you have prayer warriors in your wives; make use of them.

He advised men not to hide their dreams and aspirations from their wives, adding that they will encourage them, even when they don’t win. God has blessed women because they are comforters and very important people.
