The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission(RSIEC) says it’s ready for tomorrow’s LG polls across the state, noting that it has successfully concluded distribution of non sensitive electoral materials.

In a statement on Friday RSIEC’s Commissioner-in-charge of Civic Education and Public Affairs, Pastor Tamunotonye Tobins, also disclosed that political party cards has been released, which is required for the elections.

The RSIEC Commissioner explained that the conflicting court orders concerning the election does not take away the fact that the commission is empowered by the Supreme Court judgement and RSIEC Law of 2018, both of which are in tandem with provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended to conduct elections at the local levels as witnessed in other parts of the federation.

He said,” RSIEC wishes to inform the public that we have concluded a critical aspect of tomorrow’s election which climaxed with our successful distribution of non sensitive materials and election logistics and mobilization ahead voting tomorrow.

In the next few hours, he said all candidates and supporters and the entire citizenry are to exercise their franchise according to electoral laws.

“As scheduled, voting would start once materials , staff and accreditation are done,’ he assured.
