Former Nigerian international, Jide Oguntuase, has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to retain Augustine Eguavoen as the head coach of the Super Eagles.
Oguntuase made this appeal following the team’s recent performances in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, where the Eagles secured a crucial victory over Benin Republic and played a goalless draw with Rwanda.
Oguntuase praised Eguavoen’s leadership and ability to bring out the best in the team, stating that his experience and deep understanding of Nigerian football make him the right candidate for the job.
“The NFF should seriously consider keeping Eguavoen as the head coach. He has shown great competence in managing the Super Eagles, and the results speak for themselves.
The team is responding well to his style of coaching, and I believe stability is important at this stage,” Oguntuase said.
“I heard Eguavoen resigned because he was drafted in an interim capacity; I strongly believe in Eguavoen and I want NFF to keep him, instead of looking for a foreign coach.”
