Research: NIIPRD clinches May & Baker award in pharmacy

More than 30 years after its establishment, the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), has finally clinched the prestigious May and Baker’s professional service award in pharmacy.


NIPRD which became a hub of research in Nigeria and by extension, the African region after Dr. Obi Adigwe assumed his current position as NIPRD has become a the coming Director General of the Institute, has been on the front burner of harnessing local resources to address healthcare needs.


NIPRD’s head of Research and Development (R&D), Prof. Martins Emeje, who received the award at the 94th Annual National PSN Conference in Rivers state, noted that the feat was possible due to the condusive environment created by the  DG of NIPRD for research to thrive. He noted that the 2021 competition was intense, with distinguished applicants from all walks of life applying.


The NIPRD boss commended Prof. Emeje for ensuring the Institute’s vision for R&D was on track, and for the unprecedented successes achieved in less than fouryearsof hisstewardship.


Recall that within the tenure of the current Director General, NIPRD has been able to successfully host the Pharmaceutical Industry Discourse focused on the relationships between Health Education and Engagement tagged (NIPRD-HEEAD), Contextual Processing Protocol (CPP) aimed at harnessing local resources
