The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) is in forefront of the implementation of the Performance Management System (PMS) in the Public Service.
This was disclosed by Mrs. Titi Akisanya, the PMS Consultant from Zohar to FERMA, during the PMS appraisal session with FERMA management at the Agency’s headquarters.
The PMS has been at the centre of government reforms in recent years as an integral modern tool for planning, management, budgeting and improving accountability.
It is also described as a pace-setting system that distinguishes serious and forward-looking organisations aspiring to reach the pinnacle in a 21st Century competitive world.
Since its launch by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), PMS has remained a priority area of the Federal Government. it is worthy of note that PMS is one of the six pillars of the Federal Civil Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP25).
The Managing Director/CEO, FERMA, Engr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi, and other PMS stakeholders in the agency has worked assiduously over the past 18 months to position the Agency as one of the foremost institutions implementing PMS in the public service.
He disclosed that the FERMA had since keyed into the performance management reform initiative to support the actualisation of the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
This has led to some significant gains, as the Agency has not only ensured over 97 per cent of its staff have employee performance contract prepared and signed with their immediate supervisors, the Agency has also successfully completed the implementation of the performance management cycle.
