The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) (PRP) yesterday attacked President Bola Tinubu over his government’s decision to purchase new planes for the presidential fleet “at a time when the country is grappling with crippling economic woes and citizens are struggling to make ends meet”.
In a statement by National Publicity Secretary Muhammed Ishaq, the opposition party said the proposed purchase of new jets is an appalling, insensitive and profligate decision. It said: “At a time when the economy is in ruins, with inflation rates inching towards 40 per cent and workers’ wages yet to be reviewed, it is unconscionable that the government is prioritising luxury spending over the welfare of the people.
“The proposal to purchase new airplanes for the presidential fleet is a clear testament to the government’s detachment from reality and its lack of empathy and accountability. “We urge the government to remember that they are not serving themselves but the people.”
