Protests: Raising Russian Flags Negates Nigeria’s Sovereignty –Group

The nationwide #Endbadgovernance protesters in Kano have been called upon to stop raising the flag of Russia during the protests, describing such as a treasonable offence that mars the true intentions of the protests.

The call was made at a special press briefing yesterday by a group, the Nigeria Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Council, in Kano led by its Vice President, Balarabe Rufai.

He further condemned the wanton destruction of life and property that marred the protests in some northern cities.

He said: “The ongoing protests have been characterised by looting and destruction of public and private property and above all, the most unfortunate event was the flying of Russian flags during the protests, which was undemocratic, unconstitutional, unpatriotic, and a treasonable offence.

“This scenario has awakened all meaningful Nigerians that there are hidden forces working day and night to bring destruction that will lead to violent disintegration of our dear country.”
