Protests: Bauchi Gov Imposes 24-Hour Curfew In Katagum

The Bauchi State Government yesterday imposed a 24-hour curfew in the Katagum Local Government Area due to the breakdown of law and order in the ongoing nationwide protests.

Violent mobs reportedly attacked the Katagum LGA secretariat and burnt some of the offices and vehicles. The homes of some top politicians from the area were also allegedly vandalized by hoodlums who carted away chairs, and air conditioners.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Ibrahim Kashim said the curfew was necessary to arrest the deteriorating security situation in Azare and its environs, following vandalism and looting of public property.

He said: “Governor Bala Mohammed has approved the imposition, with immediate effect, of a 24-hour curfew in Katagum LGA in order to contain the situation.
