Protesters who trooped to Government House, Port Harcourt, yesterday to register their grievances over the state of the nation, stunned the crowd that had gathered while Governor Siminalayi Fubara addressed them by rejecting the ‘pure water money’ that the governor offered them.
While Governor Fubara was addressing the calm and attentive protesters who had covered some parts of Port Harcourt before they marched through Aba Road to Government House entrance, he volunteered to give them ‘pure water money The moment he mentioned the offer, some of the protesters felt insulted, interjecting that they don’t want any ‘pure water money,’ but good governance.
Some of the protesters, whose anger over the governor’s offer attempted to disrupt his speech amid jeers and boos that the governor does not understand the purpose of the protest.
Before the governor’s speech attracted the wrath of the protesters, he had already thanked them for the peaceful nature of the exercise, promising to deliver their message to President Bola Tinubu.
