Improved service delivery holds the ace in ensuring development and growth of Nigeria’s economy on a sustainable basis. This was the submissions of experts at the recently concluded 31st annual trainers conference organised by the Nigeria Institute of Training and Development (NITAD).
Essentially, participants at the conference stressed that the nation needed to strategically adopt measures to upgrade the skills of the workforce in public and private sectors of the economy to achieve the desired efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.
Specifically, the forum called for necessary schedules to enhance the skills of the nation’s workforce in areas of digital operations, in line with developments around the globe.
The Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs .Didi Esther Walton Jack, who was represented by Mr. Alabo Adeyemi, a Director in the Office of Head of Service of the Federation, disclosed that a scheme had already been put in place to achieve a more vibrant workforce in the country’s civil service.
According to Jack, “the primary objective Is to equip civil servants with the relevant skills, knowledge and attitudes required to effectively formulate and implement government policies and programmes.
“I am therefore pleased to announce our renewed focus on learning and development initiatives designed to equip our civil servants with the skills and expertise needed to strive in this new era.”
The President and Chairman of Council, NITAD, Mr. Bullos James, noted that the this year’s conference was apt due to the importance of using technology in service delivery.
