Probe’s Report’ll Determine Possible Prosecution Of Culprits In Jigawa Tanker Fire – Gov Namadi

Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi has said that the report of the investigative panel set by the government would determine whether those found capable in the recent Jigawa State tanker explosion would be prosecuted or not.

The governor made this disclosure while fielding questions from State House Correspondents after a closed door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday.

Recall that there was a devastating tanker explosion in Maniya Village in Jigawa last week where scores of lives were lost with several others who sustained injuries currently recuperating in the hospitals.

Responding to the question on the current situation in the state, Namadi said “the situation as at today is that we have about 181 people that died and about 80 people in the hospital and about 210 families affected by this.”

On the action taking by the state government to mitigate the situation, he said ” One is that the state government has  already established a high powered committee under the chairmanship of retired DIG to investigate the remote causes of that and then advise the government on what to do.

Also, you should also remember that Mr President has given a directive immediately to the corps marshal  that he should investigate this matter, and he should come up with a permanent solution to this problem in this country.”

The governor added that “the government has taken the medical bill of all the affected people and we have done a lot of intervention to the families, to ensure that they continue their livelihood, and also Mr. President, has promised to intervene and assist the victim,”

Namadi stressed that he was at the Villa to appreciate the actions taken so far by the President to bring succour to the victims of the fire incidence.
