The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr Ninye Soludo has called on women to abandoned the harmful practice of skin bleaching and focus on their health and their families’ well-being.
Dr Nonye Soludo made the appeal in a powerful address at the 2nd Anambra State Women Health Summit in Awka, the state capital.
The programme organized under her Healthy Living Initiative in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), the summit provided a platform for Dr Soludo to voice her concerns about women investing in skin-altering products rather than essential health practices like balanced diets, regular check-ups, and exercise.
“It’s disheartening to see women spend lavishly on bleaching creams instead of nutritious food that strengthens their bodies,” Soludo lamented, urging women to cherish their natural skin.
