A middle-aged man has been arrested for killing a woman and her son over alleged cleaning of their compound at Elemoro area of Lagos State.
The suspect, Vincent Ukpai, was said to have killed the woman identified simply as Gloria and her son over an argument about who to clean their compound.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement yesterday said on September 15, at about 10:50am information was received at Elemoro Divisional Police Station. After killing both of them, he allegedly put their remains in a ‘Ghana Must Go’ bag in an attempt to dispose them.
Hundeyin said detectives from Elemoro rushed to the scene after receiving the information and arrested the suspect and recovered the corpses from him “The corpses have been deposited at Epe General Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation, while investigation is ongoing.”
In a similar vein, a 54-yearold man is suspected to have committed suicide by hanging himself at the Agege area of the state. Hundeyin said on September 15, at about 8:40pm a complainant reported at Elere Police Station that her younger brother, one Olatunji, committed suicide by hanging himself to death in the store of their house.
The Spokesperson said officers from the station immediately visited the scene and lowered the deceased and he was taken to Orile Agege General Hospital where he was certified dead by a medical doctor. He said: “No mark of violence was found on the body of the deceased and the corpse has been deposited at Mainland Hospital Mortuary, Yaba for autopsy.
