Police: Missing journalist killed by hit-and-run driver

The Force Headquarters (FHQ), Friday, said a missing reporter with Vanguard Newspapers, Mr. Tordue Salem, was killed by a hit-and-run driver around the Mabushi general area of Abuja. Presenting the 29-yearold suspect, Itoro Clement, before journalists in Abuja, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CP Frank Mba, said the suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB). According to the FPRO, “the deceased’s phone, an iPhone, fell on the car’s windscreen”, after he was hit by the driver. This, he added, facilitated the tracking of the phone by operatives of the FIB.

Asked why did not consider it necessary to stop after knocking down the late journalist, the man said: “I thought it was an armed robber that I knocked down until the following day when I saw a smashed phone on my windscreen. “The phone was not working again so I threw it away. The place I knocked this person down is a criminal place, everybody knows that place,” he said.
