…took N555,000 found on her
The Police in Nasarawa State have arrested two suspects for allegedly abducting and killing a petty trader woman in the Obi Local Government Area of the state.
In a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nasarawa State Police Command, Ramhan Nansel, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) gave the name of the victim as Felicia Namkywa.
He disclosed that the deceased was abducted and later strangled to death by the suspects; Abubakar Ibrahim and Isah Ayuba of Shember village of Agwatashi, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa state, having lured her through a phone call to come and buy grains at a Fulani settlement in the area.
The police spokesperson disclosed that a preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was lured via phone call by one of the suspects (Abubakar Ibrahim) who was owing her the sum of Forty Thousand Naira (#40,000) and beckoned on her to come and purchase grains in one of the Fulani settlements (Ruga) in the area.
According to him, the woman set out for the journey unknown to her that there was a sinister plan to take her life and dispossess her of her business capital.
He further disclosed that on getting to the settlement, the suspects pounced on the deceased and took her to a tick forest and trangled her to death and took N555,000 found on her and dumped her lifeless body in a swamp.
“The suspects upon interrogation confessed to having lured and abducted the victim, took her deep into the forest where she was strangled to death and her remains dumped in a swamp, and took away the sum of five hundred and fifty-five thousand Naira that was found on the victim.
The suspects subsequently led the police operatives to the scene where the decayed remains of the victim were recovered.”
The police spokesperson said that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department to swiftly conclude the investigation and charge the suspects to court for immediate prosecution.
Nansel said the commissioner of police further extended his condolences to the family of the victim and urged them to be calm while assuring them that justice would be done.
