Police Arrest 5 Suspected Robbers Along Numan-Jalingo Highway

At least five suspected criminal have been arrested in connection with a spate of armed robberies and kidnappings on the Numan-Jalingo highway in Kaduna State.

The Adamawa State Police Command, in a press statement issued on Tuesday morning disclosed that the culprits were apprehended on May 10, 2024, by its agents working with hunters.

“The arrest was as a result of a timely response to distress calls made to the police that the road linking Numan and Jalingo of Adamawa and Taraba States, respectively, was blocked by armed robbers,” the statement added.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, a fast response resulted in a beneficial outcome, with five of the seven people apprehended.


“The suspects, on May 9, 2024, at about 11:30pm armed themselves with offensive weapons, blocked Numan-Jalingo Road, robbed commuters of their belongings and kidnapped three of the passengers into a thick forest.

“The Command’s response team aggressively gave a hot chase to the kidnappers, leading to their arrest, recovery of offensive weapons and successful rescue of the kidnapped victims,” the statement explained.

It identified the suspects as Adamu Usman, 25, Sule Abba, 20, Abdullahi Muhammed, 20, Aliyu Abubakar, 26, and Isah Musa, 25.

The suspects are claimed to be from Demsa and Song local government districts, specifically Kedemure and Barikin Sajo.
